The 2025-26 NFL playoffs culminated on February 8, 2026, with the Seattle Seahawks capturing their second title in franchise history by defeating the New England Patriots 29–13 in Super Bowl LX. Played at Levi’s Stadium, the game was a defensive masterclass by Mike Macdonald’s Seahawks, whose "Dark Side" unit sacked Patriots rookie Drake Maye six times and forced three crucial turnovers. Running back Kenneth Walker III earned MVP honors after a workhorse performance, rushing for 135 yards to anchor a Seattle offense that largely relied on a Super Bowl-record five field goals from kicker Jason Myers to build a lead the Patriots could never overcome. The road to the championship was paved with high-stakes drama and several notable upsets across both conferences. In the AFC, the Patriots emerged as a surprise contender under first-year coach Mike Vrabel, upsetting the top-seeded Denver Broncos 10–7 in a frigid Conference Championship after Denver's star quarterback Bo Nix was sidelined by injury. Meanwhile, the NFC saw the reigning champion Philadelphia Eagles fall early in the Wild Card round to a resilient 49ers squad. The Seahawks had to navigate an grueling path through their own division, dismantling San Francisco 41–6 in the Divisional round before edging out the Los Angeles Rams 31–27 to secure their spot in Santa Clara. This postseason signaled a significant shift in the NFL hierarchy as several perennial powerhouses faced early exits or missed the tournament entirely. Most notably, the Kansas City Chiefs missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade, ending their streak of three consecutive Super Bowl appearances and marking the potential end of an era. In contrast, the resurgence of teams like the Chicago Bears and Houston Texans—who both secured playoff victories—highlighted a new generation of talent led by young stars. The 2025-26 playoffs will ultimately be remembered for Seattle’s defensive dominance and a parity-driven bracket that proved no lead was safe and no dynasty was permanent.
