Averaging over 320 inches of annual snowfall and 300 days of sunshine, Winter Park is Colorados longest continually operated ski resort. Located next door and accessible on the same lift ticket, Mary Janes infamous Outhouse run is one of the longest, steepest mogul runs on the planet.
Winter Park lies at 9,100 feet in elevation while the top of the Winter Park/Mary Jane ski area is a bit over 12,000 feet. This elevation range is equivalent to about 2770 - 3660 m.
Altitude sickness occurs most commonly at elevations greater than 8,000 feet above sea level. The Winter Park Resort Base is around 9,000 feet and the ski resort summit is above 12,000 feet. Dehydration and physical exertion are major contributing factors toward the sickness.
